Avocado Bella Date Caramel Apples
Ingredients
1 crisp apple (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
6–10 Medjool dates, pitted
¾ cup dark chocolate chips (or bar, chopped)
1–2 tsp coconut oil (optional, to thin chocolate)
Optional toppings: chopped peanuts, white chocolate drizzle, peanut butter, mini marshmallows, crushed graham crackers, or anything you like
Directions
Prep the dates: Pit your dates and place them on parchment. Tip: I recommend buying whole dates vs. pre-pitted those tend to be drier. It’s a little extra work, but worth it! Microwave for ~10 seconds to soften before rolling.
Roll it out: Place another sheet of parchment (or plastic wrap) on top and roll the dates into a thin sheet using a rolling pin or wine bottle.
Wrap the apple: Place your apple in the center and fold the dates up and around until fully covered.
Insert the stick: Push a chopstick or popsicle stick through the core—this makes it easy to dip and slice later.
Dip in chocolate: Melt chocolate (with a little coconut oil if needed) and roll the date-covered apple until coated.
Add toppings: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle or drizzle on your favorite toppings.
Set & serve: Refrigerate until the chocolate hardens. Slice and enjoy!
Note:
You can also use a protein bar instead of dates. Smooth bars without big chunks or caramel layers work best (try GoMacro Salted Caramel or Maple Sea Salt). Warm the bar for 10–15 seconds, roll it out between parchment, wrap around the apple, then dip and decorate as above.
